Community-led dance class thrown a lifeline

A valued community-led class dance class has been given a lifeline after planning permission was secured by Berrys to widen the use of a modern industrial unit to include use as a community-led dance studio.
The building in Crowland, Lincolnshire had been identified by the dance studio as an excellent location for its popular dance class which was fast outgrowing its previous building.
“The much-valued dance class specialises in providing dance classes, keep fit and exercise opportunities for children, teenagers and young adults in the Crowland area but due to its success and growth, required a larger premises in which to hold the classes,” explained Ian Taylor, Senior Planning Consultant at Berrys.
“There was the risk that the dance studio would have to relocate away from Crowland if suitable larger premises weren’t found.
“Fortunately, with Berrys assistance, South Holland District Council took the pragmatic view and granted permission for a greater range and flexibility of uses within the industrial unit.
“This brings several benefits, not least the retention of the local community-based dance studio, social and keep-fit opportunities for children and young adults, and the re-use of an existing vacant commercial building in Crowland,” he added.
