Perfect time to plan house alterations before spring

Published December 9th, 2016

It’s that time of year when we are busy helping homeowners achieve their ambitions for their homes through alterations, re-modelling and extensions.

Preparing plans now will allow you to have planning permission and working drawings to be quoted for by builders in early spring ahead of works starting late spring and early summer.

With the relaxation of permitted development rights (extensions to your home without required full planning permission) by the government over recent years has allowed for increased sizes extension being allowed for rear extensions.

Recently I was part of the Homebuilding and Renovating show ‘ask the experts’ clinic with CIAT (Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists) and I really enjoyed meeting homeowners with their ideas for alterations.

This has also been reflected with Berrys receiving numerous requests from homeowners to help them remodel and extended their homes, with garden rooms being main topic of conversation.

Garden rooms have the feel of being more integrated into the home rather than a traditional extension. The improvements in flat roof technology allows for flat roofs with glazed lanterns or recent designs I have seen had a recessed ceiling with multi coloured LED lights changeable a the touch of remote control.

Berrys offer the service of householder extensions and re-modelling from all of our offices across the country.
