Berrys launches unique online property survey calculator
Published September 12th, 2017
Getting a survey is an essential step when buying a property and choosing the right one from the range of valuation and structural reports available is crucial.
Now, with the help of a new online tool just launched by property, business and planning firm Berrys, property purchasers can easily find out the survey they need.
The new survey calculator is an innovative decision-making tool on Berrys’ website which will guide visitors through a series of questions, providing them with an answer as to which survey they need, based on their responses.
Emily Evans, marketing manager at Berrys, said the tool was developed in response to demand from homebuyers: “We were continually having calls from people not knowing what survey they required and we realised there was a need for a simple online tool to give people the right answers,” she said.
John Rivett, a partner and chartered surveyor at Berrys’ Kettering office, helped design the tool, keeping it easy to use and suitable for both residential and commercial property buyers.
“No other surveyor has a tool like it and we are hoping it will help people make the right decisions for their particular property,” he said.
The tool will calculate and recommend the most appropriate survey based on criteria such as location, house type and condition etc for residential property or for commercial property, the location and condition, whether it is for purchase or lease, and the repair obligation of the lease.
The answers are confidential but visitors have the option to provide a contact form with their information so they can receive a call back from Berrys with further details or a quote.
“Buying a property is one of the biggest decisions people make and having an independent survey is essential to ensure any problems are highlighted before the sale is agreed,” said John.
“This new tool with allow people to be more confident in their decisions over the reports they need.”
As a registered RICS valuer, Berrys offers all three RICS surveys:
– Condition Report: A clear, concise picture of the property with ‘traffic light’ ratings. It shows the condition of the property, offers advice to legal advisors and highlights details of any urgent defects. The lowest priced of the surveys; it is aimed at conventional properties and newer homes.
– Homebuyer Report: Contains all the features of the Condition Report, plus a market valuation and insurance rebuild costs. It also includes advice on defects that may affect the value of the property with repairs and ongoing maintenance advice.
– A Building Survey (formally known as a Structural Survey): The most comprehensive report includes defects, repair and maintenance options. Essential for larger or older properties, or if you’re planning major works
