New homes in Dorrington proving popular

Published May 23rd, 2017

A quality development providing contemporary three and four bedroomed houses in the Shropshire village of Dorrington near Shrewsbury is being marketed by Berrys and the third phase is now available.

These attractive homes are being constructed by Shrewsbury Homes, a leading, independent property development company with a decade of housebuilding experience in Shropshire.

Located midway between Shrewsbury and Church Stretton, Dorrington is a thriving village on the edge of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with primary school, church, village hall, 18th Century Coaching Inn, popular restaurant, independent butcher and a Post Office.

The detached four-bedroomed Radley at The Farrs

Shrewsbury Homes has named The Farr’s development after William Farr, a British epidemiologist considered one of the founders of medical statistics. Born in Shropshire in 1807, Farr lived in Dorrington where his impoverished family received safe housing by a local Squire, Joseph Pryce.

Pryce’s legacy allowed Farr to study medicine in France and Switzerland. Returning to England and following further studies he started a medical practice in Fitzroy Square, London. There he became involved in medical journalism and along with his contributions to cholera and tuberculosis research made his mark on the world of medical statistics.

Berrys has been involved in this development since the planning stages and since Phase 1 was launched last year there has been a great deal of interest from potential buyers from all over the country. Indeed, some 40 per cent of the homes already sold have gone to buyers from outside Shropshire.

Phase 1 has been completed and there are two homes remaining on Phase 2 – Plot 10, a detached four-bedroomed Bradfield at £350,000 and Plot 12, a detached four-bedroomed Radley at £300,000. Plot 12 will become the new show home for Phase 3 which was launched on May 27 during a bank holiday open weekend.

Phase 3 has eight, four bedroomed detached homes priced from £300,000 and two semi-detached homes from £200,000, subject to planning consent. The houses are available to purchase through Berrys.

The detached homes include two four-bedroom Bradfields with shared garages (from £350,000), four, four-bedroomed Radleys with shared garages (from £300,000); one four-bed Oundle with double garage (£400,000) and one four bed Sedburgh with double garage (£530,000).

The two semi-detached Malverns have three bedrooms.

The properties are available to reserve now.

A huge benefit of buying one of these properties is that your house can be bought off-plan and with assistance of the Government ‘Help to Buy scheme,’ if required.

“Buying off-plan is the easy way to buy a house and an ideal opportunity to personalise your brand new, dream home in the knowledge that it is fully covered by a 10-year structural warranty,” said Chris Jones, partner at Berrys.

“You can avoid the hassle of a sales chain and there will no disappointing surveys or worries about costly repairs and large heating bills that you might expect with an older property.”

The show home is available to view by prior appointment at The Farrs’ site which is just off the A49 on the left hand side as you leave Dorrington towards Church Stretton.
